Myanmar summary

In Myanmar the military is holding an election for a leader. They are doing this with political repression and systematic violence. It seems like a great start to renew things after 20 years of no elections, right? Wrong, they aren't really going to let them vote and the citizens will be put in jail if they say what they think should happens with the "election". There are still 2200 people still in jail for expressing what they feel. The "three freedoms" of expression, peaceful assembly, and association are what will either put them in jail or get them killed.

In the United States I think we should be able to vote at the age of 16 because by the time we are 16 we will have been around it enough and will be able to put in a reasonable opinion. I think people value the right to vote pretty well because they are mature enough to understand it more and the importance of the right to vote. I think it is very important to engage in the responsibilities as an American citizen.

Book Buzz: Story of a Girl By: Sara Zarr

So Story of a Girl is about a girl that had sex with a senior and got caught by her Dad and since then she has been getting made fun of at school and when she got into the high school everyone knew who she was before she could even get through the doors because the guy told everyone what happened even about her father catching them. She didn't get a chance to tell her story because nobody believed her. now her dad won't talk to her but she still has her best friend and she got to tell someone her side when a new girl moved to their school.
This book so far has been an absolutely amazing book and I would recommend this book to anyone.

How this describes my freshmen year

This picture describes my Freshmen year in this class because at the beginning of the year I was off to a great smooth start I was doing great but then after the first quarter I started to slip so I fell into a hole that through out the second quarter I was pulling myself out of and I kept slipping and falling through the second and third quarters then finally in the fourth quarter I climbed out of the holes I kept falling in and now I'm on the flat again in the grass and off the mountain of ups and downs, falls and flies, and now I'm on flat and I can catch my breath and stay calm.

What Poetry Friday Has Done

Poetry Friday has actually turned into one of those few days I wake up in the morning and say "YES!" because I get to write poetry that day. I think if it weren't for poetry Friday I wouldn't have started writing again and now i have tons of poems and my own personal blogger just for all my poetry. I think we should have a poetry class whenever our class is whether we have you on a blue or gold day it would be a poetry Thursday and Friday. It has made me my own person because I am able to find myself in the poems and think about what it is I'm trying to say at that moment. I think we should have more poetry in our years of high school and should do more with it when it comes to the poetry unit in class.

Freshmen Year Reflection

This year I think was the best year in English because I have grown as a reader and writer but also as a poet because of the poetry unit we did got me back into writing poetry again and now i have a blogger of my own that has almost 45-50 poems in it. Next year I would like to study poetry more in depth like maybe do a project to pick a poet and research them and talk about what their life was like and what some of their poems are. But then on the other hand of that i think we should do more SSR because that has helped my reading get better I have been reading more, so I can read more books for SSR and get a better grade.

Silent Reading Review

I read a lot of amazing books this year but the one that i think is the best and most thought out book so far would have to be the book Tricks by: Ellen Hopkins. I haven't finished reading it yet but so far it is a very well written book that I have enjoyed and think others would enjoy just as much.
This book is about 4 kids that don't have it necessarily easy but find a way to make it better. They don't give up instead they work it out and find the best in the worst of situations. They take it one step at a time.
I think anyone would be able to read this book as long as you understand the form of how it's written. It's written in a poetic form but the chapter titles are the first sentence and the names at the top of the page are the characters that are talking at that point. It's a fairly long book because of the poetic writing it's about 600+ pages but a quick read.

acrostic eulogy

I wrote this to represent the death of Romeo and Juliet. They lived for each others love and when they died their love died with them so now with the death of them their parents lost the hate of each other and found peace within but now they are forever guilty because if they weren't fighting their children would still be alive.

Romeo and Juliet Pictures

(left) I chose this for my picture that represents Romeo because it shows he is blue and Juliet is pink and he has to get through the Capulet family to get to his one love. But they are very tough and it will take a lot to get there but he is willing to take the risks and sacrifice his life for her love.

I chose this picture for Juliet because she is always crossing paths with her love (Romeo) but yet she never relized that she would find her soul mate in the one person her family hates. But yet she will do anything to be with him. (right)

Romeo and Julliett

My sources
http://www.bardweb.net/globe.html
The globe theater
The globe theaters was one of four major theaters in the area. Along with the Swan, the Rose, and the Hope theaters.
The open-air, octagonal amphitheater was very tall it was three stories high and could hold up to 3,000 people.
In 1613, the original Globe Theater burned to the ground when a cannon shot during a performance of Henry VIII.
The Globe Theater was a very big and important building.

Haiti earthquake

The earthquake in Haiti hit on January 12, 2010 at 4:53 p.m. It struck at a 7.0 magnitude. 3 million people were in need of emergency aid after the earthquake. The earthquake sent 33 after shocks at the rating magnitude from 4.2 to 5.9. The red cross sent a relief team from Geneva and the UN's World Food Program is flying in emergency food aid in 2 planes.

The topic of abortion

I think in class we should talk about the topic of abortion. We could do research about how often it occurs in the US then debate on our opinion of it and if we think it should be allowed in the US still or if it should be considered murder or what we think it is.

My Blog Progress

I think that the blog has helped me with my spelling because at the begging I was not able to spell things at all and I always did the text talk (u, y, wat, bc, ect.) and now I have a hard time doing the text talk because on here I want everything to look as professional as possible. I think it has also helped my typing because I type a lot faster and more accurately then I did before and I think it is really cool to see the improvement in my typing abilities.

My Thoughts About Grief Girl by: Erin Vincent

I think Grief Girl is a good book if you haven't just lost a family member. If you have I wouldn't suggest you read this book until you have got over the death completely. But other then that it's a great book and i would suggest it to anyone. It is a great book and very well thought out. I really appreciate the illustrations the book draws out. It is very descriptive and planned very well. The most shocking part about this story is it's not a story it's true this really happened to Erin Vincent.
The plot of the book is about a girl whose parents got into an accident her mother died right away and her father lived for about a month then died. They were killed crossing the road by a truck. Her life change in the split second that she got the news about her parents. Her older sister was instantly changed to become a mother/guardian of her and her little brother.
I would recommend this book to mostly teenage girls so they can see that what they have is more then most people and to put them in Erin's shoes so they know how she felt when she got the news that her parents were dead.
This book was 306 pages of fun sadness and pure shock. "The priest says his "ashes to ashes" speech as they lower Dad into the hole next to Mum."

My Opinion: Capital Punishment

I think that the death penalty should only be enforced if the crime is really really extreme like a murder or rape. I don't think that anyone else should be put to the death penalty because it's not right because they didn't do anything really all that extreme to be killed for it. I think that anyone that is put to the death penalty for anything other then those 2 reasons isn't right and they are just killing someone to so they aren't any better then a murderer. If they can kill a person for a small crime then the should be killed because they are doing a big crime. But because they don't neither should the people. The people that do the smaller crimes should only be put in jail for a long time.

Innocent or Guilty?

I think Steve is innocent. I'm not quite sure why but I have a strong feeling that he is innocent because he sounds like somebody that would never kill anyone. I don't think he would have a part in that even though all he did was go in then give a signal that is not being a part of the crime. Even though he did take part in the crime I don't think it was that big of a deal for how bad the crime ended up at the end of the whole thing. He also gives me a good feeling like he is innocent because he wants to be a good role model for his little brother. I don't think he would put his parents through that much pain either. When he is just sitting in his cell he is always mad because he is in trouble for no reason.

21 years 3 months

In 21 years and 3 months I will be 37 years and 1 month. I will have lost my whole life practically because I thew it away because of a bad decision. All just because I decided to be cool. I won't have much chose of what to do but I will try to start over and get my feet underneath me again. My life wouldn't look very good because I got put in jail at the age of 15 years and 10 months and get out at the age of 37 years and 1 month. I probably wouldn't have much of a chance to get married or having children.
